Disambiguation

Disambiguation is the clarification that follows from the removal of ambiguity. Word sense disambiguation (WSD) is associated with homonyms and polysemy.

 

Such disambiguation is a normal procedure in controlled vocabularies. Wikipedia (2005) present guidelines for the disambiguation of terms used in hypertext systems (such as distinguishing between schools as educational institutions and schools as a group of people who share common characteristics of outlook, a school of thought).
