Taxon / taxa

Taxa is plural of taxon. A taxon is an element of a taxonomy. Taxa are the named classification units to which individuals or sets of species are assigned, such as species or genus. In biology it is a grouping of organisms given a formal taxonomic name such as species, genus, family, etc.
